十方無壁落 四面亦無門
『十方無壁落 四面亦無門』は、「じっぽうむへきらく しめんやくむもん」と読むのが一般的。四方八方上下で十の方向、つまり３６０度に『仕切り（壁）』がなく解放され、更には四方に『門』もない。このような状態は宇宙空間を遊泳しているのそ想像すると理解できるかもしれない。まあ、一般的には想像力にも個人差があり、不立文字・教外別伝と言っても、以心伝心でイメージを共有できるようになるには“室内十年”が必要なのかもしれませんが、可能な限り多くの者とイメージを共有するための方便（レトリックと言ったも過言ではない）を以って、『心の理想的（本来の）な状態』を表した表現です。詳しく知りたいと“分別”の世界に居る者は碧巌録三十六頌評唱を読んでください。
意味は、『無心』であり、「本来の面目」であり、心の垢を全て洗い「本当の自由」を知り、その落とした『心』という概念すら捨て去った『無一物』の境涯を表現した言葉です。つまり、“菩薩（仏）の心”と言っても差し支えないでしょう。百尺竿頭の一歩先の心であり、禅者が至る（帰る）心です。
その心の状態を外に投影したのが“本来”の禅寺です。来る者は拒まず、去る者は追わず。呼び込むようなこともせず、来ることを期待もしない。自らある現実の中で出来る事に特化して、今・此処を只管に生きる。生き切る。つまり、"寺（禅風）”は歴代の住職、現在の住職の心の投影であり、『禅』に対する考え方、生き方を象徴しているのです。
話は少し変わります。生理心理学という学問領域では、『進化適応』の法則性を探求を通じて、取り敢えずは二項対立させている『体と心』の関係を明らかにしようとしています。嘗て教えを受けたポール・ソシャール博士（精神身体医学：パリ第一大学）は心理生理学という基盤となる学問が逆とは言え、最終的には、禅も生理心理学も心理生理学も同じ知見に辿り着きました。その行き着いた先が『煩悩即菩提（ぼんのうそくぼだい）』、人間は物質および生命現象の一部であり、不生不滅、不垢不浄、不増不減という原則、色即是空、空即是色という原理なのです。そして、其処から出発すると、『心身一如』に得心が行き、心と体は紙の裏表に書かれた文字のように同じではないが分けられない。不可分 不可同という二項対立に意味を持たないという真実が得られます。そこまで解ると『泯絶超脱』の境涯となり、全てをあるがままに受け入れ、全てと同化し、諸行無常（全ては再現しない現象）の世を一日一生を意識して生きる本当の生き方に辿り着きます。つまり、どんな道を辿ろうと、最終的に行き着くところは、同じなのです。
皆さん、私たちは母の体を媒介として此の世に生を受け、日々の環境から価値を教え込まれ、今、『自分だ』と思い込んでいる自分で生きています。最近、好き嫌いや、善悪や、正しいだ、間違っているなどという判断、分別、つまり『真の己』ではなく『偽の我』に振り回されて、苦しんだ経験はありませんか？典型的な苦しみが『板ばさみ』ですね。そんな時、皆さんはどうしていますか？多くの人は、考えて、考えて、尚も考えたりします。そして時間を浪費します。つまり『時』を失います。人間は何一つ持たずに裸で生まれ、何一つ持たずに裸で死にます。
ある参禅者が、損得の世界から出たいと言いました。私は、坐りなさいと応えました。すると、「坐れば解るんですか」と聞き返されました。そして私は何も応えませんでした。
日本人の多くが合理的だと信じ込まされている平凡な科学の世界観は、『具体的な原因と具体的な結果』の相関関係の強度を分別判断しようとします。科学者となると“それ”を限定的合理性と考え、限定を解除することを考え、坐禅などをします。
損得を離れるには、分別心から分別を捨てて『心』とすることで、獲得するのではなく捨て去ることです。それが坐禅です。
坐禅をしている時ほど“幸せ”を実感することはありません。
